National English Honors Society Students Share Their Love of Story-Telling with Fourth Graders Members of Stepinac High School’s National English Honors Society recently shared their love of story-telling when they visited Our Lady of Sorrows School (OLS) in White Plains for a read along with fourth graders. The stories were selected by the students and teachers of OLS. Among them was “Those Darn Squirrels,” that Diego Cabanillas (Class of ’26) of White Plains, shown at left holding the book which he and Brian Jurado (Class of ’26) of Yonkers, read to the children. For Diego, the visit to the leading Catholic elementary/middle school was a homecoming as well as he graduated from OLS in 2022 before continuing his education at Stepinac. |
Stepinac High School’s Talented Show Choir Wins Four Top Awards at Annual WorldStrides Orlando Heritage Festival The ensemble captured the Gold Rating, the highest in the competition; the Adjudicator Award for achieving the highest choral and instrumental scores and tied for the Outstanding Choral Group accolade. In addition, Calvin Lindo (Class of ’24) of Yonkers, the award-winning actor of the Stepinac Theatre, earned a Maestro Award for displaying “…extraordinary musical ability and sensitivity.’’ |
Stepinac High School Donors Answer The Call and Surpass Blood Drive Goal In Memory of Beloved Student, Christopher Jack (“CJ”) Hackett Continuing its long-time support of the New York Blood Center (NYBC) to help address the shortage of life-saving blood supplies in the region, Stepinac High School recently hosted a successful community blood drive in memory of Christopher Jack (“CJ”) Hackett. The beloved student tragically died at age 16 on August 4, 2022. A total of 97 donors including students, parents, members of the school’s administration, faculty, staff and individuals from the community answered the call and surpassed the blood drive goal of 75. |
Stepinac High School’s Student Body and Members of the Administration, Faculty and Staff Moved By Activist/Author Anthony Ray Hinton’s Harrowing Account of Being Wrongly Convicted of Two Murders and Spending 28 Years on Death Row In a special event that powerfully underscored the Lenten theme of suffering, death and resurrection, Stepinac High School recently hosted activist/author Anthony Ray Hinton, who spoke about his memoir, “The Sun Does Shine: How I Found Life and Freedom on Death Row,” before the entire student body and members of the administration, faculty and staff. |

Stepinac Theatre to Stage “Catch Me If You Can” Musical Based on Hit Film and Incredible True Story The acclaimed Stepinac Theatre will stage Catch Me If You Can, the high-flying musical comedy based on the hit film directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. Showtimes at Stepinac's iconic Major Bowes Auditorium will be at 7PM, Friday and Saturday, April 26 and 27; Thursday and Saturday, May 2 and 4. There will also be a 2PM Matinee, Sunday, May 5. |
